Harper crowned ‘Tot Queen’ at fundraiser

AHOSKIE – Little Miss Kelsey Harper of Greensboro took home the crown of “Tot Queen” during a Baby Contest fundraiser conducted by Charity Baptist Fellowship Church on July 10.

The event – entitled “Youth in Action” was the first of its kind conducted by the church.

The contest also recognized two other toddlers. The first runner-up was awarded to Little Miss Bailey Elise Ellerbee of Elizabeth City. Little Miss Breasia Brown of Mapleton earned the honor of second runner-up.

The event attracted a total of 10 participants. The others were Adorian Thompson, Jolay Brown, Tatyana Watson, Travis Smith, Marquis Bell, Nah Jae Brooks, and Sy’mia Jenkins.

Cadarius Perry served as the Master of Ceremony during the program.

The event also featured praise dancing by the Angels of Praise led by Doris B. Gatling, and the Praise Group of Charity Baptist Fellowship Church. Charity’s Youth Chorus also performed.

Melinda McCall – “Little Miss Love” participated in the event by reciting a poem. She also performed a praise dance.

The event’s video conductor was Gregory McCall.

Shirley S. Thompson, Baby Contest sponsor, choreographed “Tots on the Rise” – a parade of all participants before the announcement of the top three winners.
