AULANDER – Elton Bruce Jones, 65, of 513 East Main Street, Aulander, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born on March 2, 1951 in Salisbury, Maryland and raised in nearby Pocomoke City by the late William Henry and Mary Jane Jones and was predeceased by his brother, Kenny Jones.

He was a deacon and an active member of Aulander Baptist Church, as well as a member of Gideon’s International and Cashie Beekeepers. Elton was retired from Perdue Farms, Inc. and a Vietnam War Veteran where he served honorably in the United States Air Force.

Funeral services will be held Sunday July 24, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Aulander Baptist Church, 109 Harmon Street, Aulander, NC by the Rev. Jimmy Blythe. Burial with military rites will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor, North Carolina.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Gail Harmon Jones of Aulander; son, Bruce Landry Jones and wife Mary Jones of Carolina Beach; daughter, Jessica Lyn Jones of Durham; mother-in-law, Ruby Crisp Harmon; and many loving family members.

The family will receive friends at Aulander Baptist Church on Sunday July 24, 2016 from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. and at other times from their home at 102-B Cypress Road, Merry Hill NC 27957.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 554, Ahoskie, NC 27910 to be applied towards Bible purchases.
