BOE filing underway

WINTON – Filing is underway in Hertford County for two seats on the Board of Education.

According to Shelia Privott, Director of the county’s Board of Elections Office, filing began last week and closes at 12 noon on Friday, Aug. 5.

Of the five seats on the county’s Board of Education, the four-year terms of current chairman David Shields and current vice chairman J. Wendell Hall both expire later this year.

To date, only Hall has filed for reelection, according to Privott.

The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The non-partisan seats are open to legal residents of Hertford County. There is a $5 filing fee.

Those wishing to file can meet with Privott at her office in Winton (700 North King Street) between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
