Sgt. Regina Joyner

CHARLOTTE – SGT. Regina Joyner, daughter of Sandra Elaine Joyner and Ronald Lee Faison (deceased), was born in Ahoskie NC on July 7, 1975. Regina was called home on June 29, 2016 at her home in Charlotte, NC.
Regina joined First Baptist Church Severn at a young age. A Northampton County High School East 1993 graduate, Regina joined the United States Army in November 1995, serving as an Administrative Specialist until March 2002. Regina’s honorable years included: Armed Forces Service medal, four Army
Achievement medals, NATO medal, Army Superior Unit award, two Army Good conduct medals, National Defense Service medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification badge with grenade bar and marksman marksmanship Qualification badge with automatic Rifle Bar. Regina’s active duty also includes stations in Fort Story VA, Fort Eustis VA, Fort Hood TX and tours in Germany and Bosnia Herzegovina.
Upon her discharge from the US Army, Regina worked for the Department of Defense as the Human Resources Management Specialist in Fort Rucker, Alabama as she also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Saint Leo University. Regina moved to Charlotte, NC in 2009 working as a tax preparer for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. Regina volunteered with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Queen City Chapter 10 as an Auditor and Treasurer. She worked an intern/volunteer at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). She worked at Wells Fargo Bank as a Securities and Operations Service Specialist II. Recently, Regina worked at Go-Pro Tax & Accounting in Salisbury NC until her health failed.
Regina leaves behind to cherish her grandmother, Ethel Virginia Joyner of Severn, NC; mother, Sandra Elaine Joyner of Conway, NC; three sisters, Tadeshia Joyner of Charlotte, NC, Wendy L. Faison of Greensboro, NC, and Pernicious Teniel Faison of Windsor, NC, one brother, Rufus Flythe Jr. of Severn, NC; four nephews, Shane Bynum of Franklin VA, Rufus Flythe III, Joshua Flythe and Zamarieon Alston, all of Severn NC, and three God sons, Kelonta’ Joyner, De’Lon Joyner and Trevon Joyner, all of Weldon, NC. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church Severn, 8899 Highway 35, Severn, NC 27877. Reverend Elisha Barnes will officiate.
