Hillary: Paranoid – yes; Criminal – no

Well, Hillary’s not going to jail. I know that’s very disappointing for Trump fans who think every governmental institution is rigged.

They’re also upset that Trump just can’t get away with anything. He retweets a clearly anti-Semitic ad against Hillary and the press and all the Jewish watchdog groups bust him for it.

I’ve lost track of all the groups of voters he has expressed antipathy for, but now you can add Jewish people to the list. I forgot where I read this, but it was a sarcastic response to the Trump campaign’s claim that the six pointed star was a sheriff’s badge, not a Star of David the Nazi’s used to identify Jews for easy pick-up when the Holocaust started. The response to this claim went something to the effect that the Nazi’s so loved the Jews that they gave them all a “sheriff’s star.”

When I first saw it, with no context included, I thought it was unfair to call it and Trump anti-Semitic, but when I heard about where it came from, a neo-Nazi site, it was clearly anti-Semitic. Trump may not have meant to use it that way, but it shows how ignorant to history he is and how ignorant of current events he is.

He voices 100 percent support for Israel, but doesn’t consider that Israel was founded in the late 1940s as a reaction to anti-Semitic hatred, the Holocaust, and the brutal murder of six million Jewish people by the Nazis.

But that’s just The Donald being The Donald – an ignorant buffoon who doesn’t understand much of anything.

But Hillary’s been let off the hook by the FBI for private server mess.

This wasn’t a surprise for legal and political minded people. She shouldn’t have set up a private server – it was dumb – but it wasn’t criminal.

She didn’t do it to give state secrets to our enemies (or friends). I think she did because after 25 years of right-wing attacks on everything she does, she has a bit of paranoia.

I’ve read the stuff comparing what she did to what Gen. David Petraeus was convicted a few years ago, but that was totally different.

General Petraeus deliberately gave classified material to someone with no security clearance and was probably going to release the information to the world because, in addition to being his girlfriend, she was a journalist.

That’s a crime he could have been harshly punished for. Clinton just did something stupid, with no intention of giving away the nation’s secrets, out of paranoia that she’d lose control of her narrative.

But nobody stepped in when she was Secretary of State to set her straight. Somebody should have done that – like the Inspector General or the FBI. Yeah, her decision to go with the private server was bad, but none of the checks and balances worked either.

We over-classify information in this country, I thought that before 9/11 and it’s even more true since. We need fewer secrets and more openness in government. The American people need to know what’s what.
