WOODLAND – Curtis Lee Benton Jr. – known to family and friends as “Lil Curtis” – was born February 14, 1995 in Columbia, SC to Curtis Lee Benton Sr. and the late Stan-ja Wood-Dunbar.

He attended high school in Norfolk, VA. At the age of 19 he joined Revelle Hill Baptist Church in Conway, NC.

He was a caring young man who loved to laugh. He enjoyed working on bikes, which initially became his first job at the age of 18.

He later relocated to North Carolina where he learned to work with his dad.

He enjoyed going to church. He loved playing horseshoes and listening to music. One of his greatest accomplishments was working and saving his money to purchase his scooter, which he loved to ride daily. He enjoyed spending time with his young siblings and teaching and bonding with them.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his father, Curtis Lee Benton Sr. (Jennifer) of Woodland, NC; four brothers, Thurman Collins Wood and Robert Dunbar, both of Norfolk, VA, Patrick Ballad of Asheville, NC, and James M. Benton IV of Woodland, NC; five sisters, Demetria Dunbar of Norfolk, VA, Danyale Joyner (Wonte) and Schnell Benton (Donte), both of Murfreesboro, NC, and Brindalyn Benton and Makayla Benton, both of Woodland, NC; two uncles, Bonja Wood (Krista) of Murfreesboro, NC, and Andrew James of Columbia, SC; and four aunts, Tammy B. Fleetwood of Murfreesboro, NC, Christal Giddens (Carl) of Columbia, SC, Francine B. Long of Jackson, NC, and Brenda Benton Murrell (Popcorn) of Woodland, NC.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Revelle Hill Baptist Church, Conway. Burial will be in the Boone Family Cemetery, Murfreesboro.
