CONWAY – Mr. William Mack Garris, age 75 of Conway, NC, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Mr. Garris was born March 28, 1941 in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late John William Garris and Goldie Nicholson Garris. He was also predeceased by a brother, Quinton Garris; and a sister, Thadys Garris Simmons.

Mr. Garris was owner of Garris Sales and Service in Conway, NC for the past 43 years. He had served as Mayor and on the Town Council for Conway and was formerly the Fire Chief for the Conway Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Conway United Methodist Church and a former member of the US Army.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Lewter Flythe Garris; his son, Neil Garris and his wife Kelli; two grandchildren, Morgan Garris and Justin Garris; his brother, Marvin Garris and his wife Dale; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Conway United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Hill officiating.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, NC on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Conway United Methodist Church or the Conway Volunteer Fire Department.
