MURFREESBORO – Leslie Francis Smith, age 66, of Murfreesboro, passed away on June 23, 2016 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.

Mr. Smith was born on November 9, 1949 in Jarvisburg, NC. Leslie was a hard worker, working as a construction worker for Barnhill Contracting as long as his health allowed him to. He served in the Vietnam War as Military Police. Leslie was a family man, cherishing every moment he got to spend with them. He was a loving father, husband, and brother.

He was preceded in death by mother, Dorothy Weeks, and his first wife, Kimberly Wells Smith.

Leslie is survived by his wife Linda; three sons, William Phillip Carey Smith and his wife Treshanda of Raleigh, NC, Shane Leslie Smith and his wife Jeannie of Picayune, MS, and Jonathan Francis Marion Smith of Sacramento, CA; three daughters, Lesley Smith of Raleigh, NC, Kimberly Dawn Waterfield and her husband Lee of Jena, LA, and Shauna Leā€™Anne Smith of Woodland, NC; one brother, William Nelson of Murfreesboro, NC; and three step-daughters; Jeanie Conner of Murfreesboro, NC, Emily Terry and her husband Patrick of Murfreesboro, NC, and Kristy Blanton of Creedmoor, NC. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. Al Jarrell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
