Wilson got the equalizer in the bottom of the second inning and it was tied, 1-1, after two complete.

Ahoskie broke the game open in the top of the third with six big runs. Jamonta Branch opened with a single and went to third on an error before Nathan Rowe and Smith both walked to load the bases. Branch scored on an RBI single by Michael Scott and Rowe and Smith scored on Tyler Jones’ two-run double. Chris Wilkins two-run double scored Scott and Jones, and Wilkins came home later with the inning’s sixth run on a passed ball. Ahoskie led it 7-1 after three innings.

Post 102 added another run in the top of the fourth inning off back-to-back-to-back singles by Smith, Scott, and Jones – with Jones’ RBI scoring Smith.

Wilson got a run back in the bottom of the fourth and that made it 8-2, Ahoskie after four. By the bottom of the fifth, Post 13 had halved Ahoskie’s lead thanks to two more runs that made it 8-4.

Ahoskie added a little insurance with two more runs in the top of the sixth. Scott walked, stole second, and scored when Jarrett Harrell reached all the way to second base on a Post 13 error. Harrell would score on Alex Harmon’s RBI base-hit for a 10-4 bulge. Wilson scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth for the final as the game was shortened from nine innings to seven.

Harmon pitched four-and-two-third innings and got the win for Post 102. Jones pitched the final two-and-a-third innings.

Ahoskie had 11 hits. Smith, Scott, Jones, and Slade Cowan had two hits apiece. While Harmon, Wilkins, and Branch had one hit each.

West Craven forfeited Tuesday night’s game in Ahoskie for another win for Post 102, improving Ahoskie’s record to 5-8 and 4-6 in conference play. Post 102 will play Edenton at Hicks Field in the sound side city tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m.
