Ahoskie halved that lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Michael Scott singled to right field. On a Tyler Jones base hit the Post 11 shortstop threw the ball past second base and Scott was able to come around and score while Jones ended up at third. When Jarrett Harrell lifted a fly-ball to right, Jones was thrown out at the plate trying to score. Ahoskie trailed 2-1 headed to the fifth.

Wayne County would score four more runs in the top of the sixth to lead it 6-1 going into the bottom of the inning. That’s when Ahoskie pushed across another run on a Matthew Weaver solo home run over the wall in left field. It was 6-2, Wayne County, after six innings.

Post 11 got its final run in the top of the eighth for a five-run margin, but Ahoskie made one final threat in their half of the frame. With two out, Scott walked and Jones singled to center; however, a fly-ball out ended the threat and neither team scored in the ninth for the 7-2 final, and a tough conference loss for Post 102.

Logan Jackson went five-and-two-thirds innings for Post 102 and was tagged with the loss. Jones pitched the final three-and-a-third innings.

Ahoskie had seven hits, three by Jones. Scott, Weaver, Harrell, and Tommy Cowan had one hit each.

Ahoskie falls to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play. Post 102 hosts West Craven at home tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. at Hertford County High Field.
