AHOSKIE, NC – Eunice I. Francis, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Francis was born in Bertie County on December 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Lewis and Pearl Hill Evans. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Affectionately known to many as “The Plant Lady”, Eunice had a love of gardening and flowers, owning a retail plant business as long as her health permitted.

Besides her parents, Eunice was predeceased by a son, Steven Dale Perry; a brother, Curtis Evans; and a sister, Sandra Jenkins.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 55 years, James Elwood Francis; a daughter, Virginia Perry Green and husband, Mike of Raleigh, NC; and two sons, Bobbie Perry and wife, Linda of Wake Forest, NC, and Scott Francis and wife, Christina of Willow Springs, NC. Also surviving are five granddaughters, Samantha Grace Francis, Rachel Hope Francis, Carman Faith Francis, Weena Perry, and April Green; two grandsons, Jay Perry, and Bart Perry; and a great granddaughter, Summer Perry.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Garrett Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Rev. Greg Hurdle, officiating. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery.
