SLYVA, NC – Gladys Estelle Whitman Baxley, 94, of Sylva, NC, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at The Morningstar Assisted Living Facility in Sylva.

Gladys is preceded in death by her father, Walter Thomas Whitman; mother, Bonnie Estelle Conner Whitman; and husband, James Russell Baxley.

Surviving Gladys are her sons, Rus Baxley Jr. and wife Deborah Hall of Montgomery, AL, David Baxley and wife Iris of Knoxville, TN, Steve Baxley and wife Beth of Sylva, NC, and Jon Baxley of Sylva, NC; and granddaughters, Lauren Baxley of Tuckasegee, NC and Cameron Baxley of Dania Beach, FL.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Cullowhee Baptist Church with burial to follow.
