Felon found in possession of weapons

GASTON – A Gaston resident was jailed after a search of a residence revealed weapons in possession of a convicted felon.

On Thursday April 7, the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on 233 Lot 13 Mt. Gallant Drive in Gaston. This search warrant was a result of citizen complaints and deputies/officers observations, according to information provided by Northampton Sheriff’s Lt. A.J. Thomas.

As a result of the search warrant, Lorandy Broady of the residence was charged with five counts of possessing a firearm by convicted felon. Several other items of drug paraphernalia were located inside and out of the home.

Broady was given a secured bond of $37,500 and a first court appearance of Monday, April 11.

This investigation was a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies to include the Northampton County Sheriffs Office, the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Northampton Sheriff Jack Smith would like to thank the citizens of the county and the Garysburg, Ahoskie, Jackson, and Gaston Police Departments for their vital roles in the execution of the search warrant.

Smith would like to encourage all citizens of Northampton County to continue to report suspicious activity as it relates to not only illegal narcotic activity but also all criminal activities. He said deputies and investigators with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office take all nuisance complaints seriously.
