MURFREESBORO, NC – Jeanne Brett Edwards, age 76, of Murfreesboro, passed away on March 29, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Edwards was born on January 20, 1940 to Clayton Smithwick and Daisy Brake Wiggins in Hertford County, NC. Jeanne graduated from Murfreesboro High School and was an active member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church.

Jeanne was a founding member of the ROOK Club, and she and her friends have been enjoying monthly games since 1964. She was also a member of the Friday Night Supper Club, and looked forward to the fellowship with her circle of friends each week. Jeanne was a movie buff and possessed an impressive collection of titles. Jeanne had a love for UNC basketball and her enthusiasm could often be heard throughout the neighborhood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a loyal friend to many.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald T. Brett, and her second husband William “Billy” Edwards, and two sisters, Peggy Musha and Betsy Worrell.

Jeanne is survived by her three daughters, Donna Francis and her husband Jef, Tracy Pearce and her husband Paul, both of Murfreesboro, and Susanne Easley and her husband Jeff of Hickory; two sons, John Edwards and his wife Kim of Clayton, NC and David Edwards and his wife Kimberly of Macon, GA; five grandsons, Tanner Francis and Nathan Pearce, both of Murfreesboro, Jay and Preston Easley of Hickory, and Grant Edwards of Macon, GA; four granddaughters, Lauren Pearce of Murfreesboro, Ashton Edwards of Clayton, and Katelyn and Madison Edwards of Macon; along with her beloved dog, Bogie.

A time to visit with the family will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Murfreesboro Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. Dr. Lee Canipe officiating, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC.
