Jearld C. Bryant

NEW BERN, NC – Jearld Clifton “Jack” Bryant, age 80, formerly of Murfreesboro, passed away on March 6, 2016 at the Carolina East Medical Center of New Bern, NC.

Mr. Bryant was born in Duplin County on August 4, 1935, a son of the late Reuben and Mattie Futrell Bryant. Jack was owner and operator of a music store. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and gardening. Above all else, family came first for Jack. Even when he was weak from chemo and radiation, he made arrangements for a decaying board on his daughter’s deck to be replaced, and just recently, dragged her driveway to level it and fill a hole.

Besides his parents, Jearld was preceded in death by his son Jearld Clifton Bryant, Jr.; and two brothers.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years, Bonita Greene Bryant; his daughter, Lisa Marie Desten and husband, Rudy of New Bern, NC; three sons, Gary Bryant and wife, Wanda of Winston Salem, NC, Cliff Bryant and wife, Sandy of Harrells, NC, and Charles Bryant of Leland, NC; four granddaughters, Kaylee Marie Desten, Ashley Hope Desten, Amber Bryant, and Rayven Bryant; four grandsons, James Bryant, Timmy Bryant, Clifton Bryant, Jr., and Charles Bryant, Jr.; and a sister, Dot Helmick of Havelock, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 9 at Garrett Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC, from 12:30 pm, until 1:45 pm, with a graveside service following at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating.
