AHOSKIE, NC – Mary Liverman Harrell, age 83, of Ahoskie, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2016 at the Hampton Woods Health & Rehabilitation of Jackson, NC.

Mrs. Harrell was born in Northampton County on May 5, 1932, a daughter of the late Ashley Wynn and Elizabeth Liverman Liverman. Mary was a faithful, active member of Union Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was retired as a Unit Secretary for Roanoke Chowan Hospital after many years of service. Mary enjoyed traveling on bus trips and shopping. She was a caregiver at heart, as was evident by her many years of caring for her “Big Brother” James, and her total delight in helping her adored granddaughter with her twin great grandsons.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie Gurley Harrell, Jr.; her brothers, James and Milton Liverman; and her granddaughter, Kayla Gunnells.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Nancy H. Gunnells of Conway, NC; her son, John R. Harrell of Raleigh, NC; her granddaughter, Kelly Peele Vann and husband, Heath of Conway, NC; and her twin great grandsons, Dawson and Dalton Vann.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Kelly Vann.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Union Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Don Polvadore, and Rev. Greg Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
