MURFREESBORO – Mrs. Viola Bradley Futrell, age 91, died at her home in Murfreesboro, NC on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.

She was born on October 20, 1924 to the late Winfred and Vida Bradley of Woodland, NC. Mrs. Futrell worked as a bookkeeper at Smith Douglas Fertilizer Company in Murfreesboro for a number of years. Following her employment at Smith Douglas and at the age of sixty-two she went to nursing school at Louise Obici of Suffolk, VA.  She worked with Roanoke Chowan Hospice in Ahoskie, NC for a couple years, Rich Square Nursing Home and Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie, NC. As well, Mrs. Futrell worked alongside her husband on the family farm.

She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Futrell enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by mother, Vida Powell Bradley; father, Winfred Clarence Bradley; and brother, Winfred Earl Bradley.

Viola is survived by her, daughter, Judy Futrell Burch and her husband Joseph Allen of Hertford, NC; son, Eston Earl Futrell Jr. and his wife Linda Bullock of Ahoskie, NC; three sisters, Margaret Bradley Johnson and her husband Jim of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Bradley Matthews and her husband Henry of Ahoskie, NC, and Kaye Bradley Holland and her husband Joel of Murfreesboro, NC; grandson, Billy Burch and his wife Wendy of Suffolk, VA; two granddaughters, Annette Burch Perry and her husband Ricky of Kenly, NC, and April Lee Futrell of Ahoskie, NC; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Burch of Windsor, VA; two great-grandsons, Justin Ray Burch and his wife Brittany of Franklin, VA, and Johnny Ray Perry of Kenly, NC; great great granddaughter, Whitney Ann Sidwell of Windsor, VA; and great great grandson, Brantley James Burch of Franklin, VA.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home of Mrs. Futrell.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 2 pm at the Futrell Family Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC with the Rev. David Ross officiating.
