AHOSKIE – Mrs. Elsie Perry Harrison, age 90, wife of Cola Harrison of Ahoskie, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Harrison was born August 6, 1925 in Hertford County, NC, the daughter of the late Percy W. Perry and Hattie Copeland Perry. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Jesse Thomas Piland Sr., father of her children; two grandchildren, Bradley Thomas Garris and William Jesse Bailey; and two sisters, Jean Castelow and Judy Harris.

She was a current member of Higher Ground Pentecostal Holiness Church and a former member of Meherrin Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Cola Harrison; four children, Jesse Thomas Piland and his wife Brenda of St. John, June Piland Garris of Florida, Vicky L. Piland of Powellsville, and Rebecca Piland Smith of Washington, NC; a step-daughter, Angela Smithwick of Ahoskie; a brother, Earl Perry; two sisters, Erlene Davis and Edith Perry; her grandchildren, John E. Garris, Christopher Thomas Bailey, Daniel Edwards and Richard Larry Edwards; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
