BOYKINS, VA – Melvin Edgar Mann, 87, of Boykins, VA passed away peacefully October 4, 2015 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Davis Mann.
A native of Northampton County, NC, he was the only child of the late John Edgar Mann and Alice Futrell Mann.
Farming was his life’s passion and he also had other business interests. He was a deacon and an active member of Severn Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and was a licensed private pilot.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Diane M. Francis of Capron VA; two sons, Melvin E. Mann, Jr. of Richmond VA and J. Michael Mann and wife, Betty, of Boykins, VA; five grandchildren, Angie F. Floyd and husband, Claude, of Chesapeake VA, Vernie W. Francis, III and wife, Holly, of Capron, VA, Maggie M. Puckette and husband, Robert, of Richmond, VA, Molly K. Mann of Chesapeake, VA, and M. Cole Mann of Boykins, VA; and five great grandchildren, Sydney, Shelby, and Wyatt Floyd of Chesapeake, VA, and Bryn and Berkley Francis of Capron, VA.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, from 6 pm-8 pm at Wright Funeral Home in Boykins, VA. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 7, at 11am in Severn, NC Cemetery with Rev. Mark Corbett officiating. Family will receive friends at the family home following interment.
