EURE – James Alton “Mole” Eure, Sr., 85, of 1381 NC Hwy 137, Eure, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA.

Mr. Eure was born in Edgecombe County, NC on April 18, 1930, and was the son of the late Wesley LaFayette and Linda Crawford Eure. A retired foreman with Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, VA after 38 years of employment, he was a member and deacon at Cool Spring Baptist Church where he sang in the Adult Choir and attended the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and was a charter member of the Eure Volunteer Fire Dept.  He had served in the US Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Williamson; and by his son-in-law, Tom Powell.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 62 years, Shirley Parker Eure; his daughter, Shirley Paige Eure Powell; and his son, James A. Eure, Jr., all of Eure; his sister, Dorothy Baines of Gatesville; his brother, Wesley Eure of Portsmouth, VA; two granddaughters, Sara P. Turner and husband Jeffrey of Eure, and Tommi Norton and husband Jack of Cary; and three great-grandchildren, Josie, Charlotte, and Levi Turner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Kiker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence.
