Yvonne Martin-Stewart

WOODLAND – Yvonne Martin-Stewart, 56, of Woodland, NC, formerly of Kingston, Jamaica, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at MoBay Hope Medical Center in Jamaica.   She was born on April 3, 1959 to the late Amos and Eugenia Harrison Martin of Palm District St.Catherine, Jamaica.

Yvonne graduated from Moneague and Mico Teacher’s College in Jamaica. She attended the University of West Indies and earned a Bachelor of Education Degree in Educational Administration. With her drive for success she then pursued and attained a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA. She has been a teacher with the Northampton County School System for the past 6 years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert I. Stewart of the home; children: Chadwyk, Robert, Robin, Rodney, and Roslyn; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers: Everton, Uriel, and Lotan; sisters: Claudette and Lorice; six nieces; seven nephews; cousins; and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Nebo Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, NC. Interment will follow in the Wilder-Cherry Family Cemetery in Aulander, NC with the Rev. James K. Brown officiating.
