Charles B. Jilcott, Sr.

EURE – Charles Bernard Jilcott, Sr., age 91, died at the Down East Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Gatesville, NC on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
He was born on December 15, 1923 to the late Hugh Waddell and Eunice Hart Jilcott in Roxobel, NC. Mr. Jilcott served his country during WWII with the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant, retiring August 1, 1963. Mr. Jilcott was the top turret gunner on the B17 and completed nineteen missions. Mr. Jilcott loved the outdoors and bird watching.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Klemz Jilcott; and son, Charles B. Jilcott, Jr.; mother, Eunice Hart Jilcott; father, Hugh Waddell Jilcott; brother, Worth Jilcott; and sisters, Edith J. Shoulars and Martha Louise Jilcott.
Charles is survived by his two daughters, Linda Jilcott Forbes and her husband Carlton of Elizabeth City, NC and Cynthia Jilcott Ireland of Ahoskie, NC; and son, Steven W. Jilcott Sr. and his wife Jewell of Pensacola, FL. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Marc and Eric Forbes, Steven and Bryan Jilcott, Sean and Dustin Ireland; and four great grandsons, Benjamin Forbes, and Michael, Elijah and CamdenIreland.
Private funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Garrett Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Dr. Dave Rimel officiating. The interment will follow at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery.
