Dora A. Liverman

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Dora Adams Liverman, 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in her home.

Born May 10, 1932 in Winton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Fred Wilson, Sr. and Robert Dixon Liverman.  A member of Winton Baptist Church, after graduating from Ahoskie High School in 1950, she attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC and later Barbizon School of Modeling in New York City. After living in the city for two years and working at Universal Pictures on Park Avenue, she returned to Winton and began working as a secretary for the NC Agricultural Extension Service.

In 1968 she and her brother, Fred, started an interior design business, Frederick Livermon Interiors, which was located on West Freemason Street in the Historic District of Downtown Norfolk.  After 32 years in business they retired in 2000.

Dora’s passions were gardening, sewing, traveling, and fishing.  She dearly loved spending time at Nags Head with her family.

Surviving are her sister, Betty A. Liverman of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Frederick W. Livermon of Norfolk, VA and J. Wesley Liverman and wife Wilda of Winton; a niece, Whitney A. Farmer and husband Justin of Winton; two nephews, J. Wesley Liverman, Jr. and wife Renee of Grandy, NC and William F. Liverman and wife Jessie of Winton; great-nieces, Caitlin and Kelsey Liverman of Ahoskie and Ivy Grace Liverman of Grandy; and great-nephews, Wyatt Liverman of Winton and Zane Liverman of Grandy.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 13th at 1:30 p.m. in Winton Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Futrell.  There will be a private burial in the church cemetery.

Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, NC, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
