Arthur L. Barnes III

AHOSKIE – Arthur Lee Barnes III, 63, of 704 Ahoskie-Cofield Road, Ahoskie, passed away peacefully at his home late Monday, March 2, 2015.

Born in Norfolk, VA on October 24, 1951, he was the son of the late Arthur Lee Barnes, Jr. and Eunice Warren Barnes. He was married to Janet Taylor Barnes who survives.  He worked for several Tyrrell County farmers and Winslow Farms in Elizabeth City during his working years and until his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 6 in the Columbia Chapel of Bryan Funeral Service. Rev. Joseph Wynns will officiate.

Surviving in addition to his wife are step-sons, Donald “Butch” Coleson of Panama City, FL, Ricky Young of Jamesville, and James Young of Columbia; step-daughters, Cathy C. Cobo of Columbia, and Nikki Belangia and Jamie B. Morphis, both of Ahoskie; a brother, Lonnie Warren Sr. of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Brian Nicholson, Kenneth Coleson III, Toby Coleson, Melissa C. Rhodes, Donald Coleson, Stetson Sexton, Brooke Belangia, Nickolas Belangia and Faith Morphis; and nine great-grandchilden.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth “Peanut” Coleson, Jr.; a brother, David Barnes; and a sister, Barbara Lynn Barnes.
