Roy C. Bazemore

WINDSOR – Roy Clayton Bazemore, Sr., 75, of Zeddie Lane, Windsor, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home. He was born September 2, 1939 in Bertie County to the late James Lang and Mary Della Pierce Bazemore and was predeceased by a daughter, Anita Bazemore Harmon; sister, Bessie Umscheid; and brothers, Jesse, Cecil, William and Jimmy Bazemore.

Roy was a member of Askewville Assembly of God where he served as a Deacon and custodian. He retired as a foreman with Carolina Aluminum.  He was a former member of several gospel groups, including the Assembly Quartet, The Laymen, the Trinity Quartet and Uprisin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Askewville Assembly of God Church by the Rev. R. O. Denton, Jr, the Rev. Allen Harmon, and the Rev. J. N. Baggett.  Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Esther Hoggard Bazemore of the home; daughter, Laverne Johnson and husband Roy; sons, Roy Clayton “Pee Wee” Bazemore, Jr. and wife Wendy, and William Douglas Bazemore and wife Julie, all of Windsor; sister, Helen Bazemore Copeland of Windsor; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from the home.
