Cofield man held under $1 million bond

WINTON – Ten felony charges involving sex with an underage child has landed a Cofield man in the Hertford County Jail under a $1 million secured bond.

Texas Thomas Davis, 59, of 801 NC 45 South, was arrested Friday afternoon at his residence, according to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan.

Davis was charged with three counts of statutory rape; five counts of indecent liberties with a child; and two counts of crimes against nature.

Vaughan said the alleged incidents, reported by a family member of the victim, took place between October 2013 and May 2014. He added that the victim was under the age of 16 at the time the alleged crimes occurred.

Davis is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Hertford County District Court today (Tuesday).

Hertford County Sheriff’s Investigator Brian Pearce is handling the case. The arrest was made by HCSO Sgt. Leon Eason and Deputy Marquise Ross.
