COLERAIN – Gladys Mizelle White, 83, of 604 E. River Street, Colerain, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 in Creekside Care & Rehabilitation Center, Ahoskie.

Mrs. White was born in Bertie County on November 15, 1931, and was one of three children born to Genie Ellis and Grover Mae Johnson Mizelle.  A loving mother, Gladys was known in the community for delicious home cooking.  She worked in the textile industry for many years, and was a faithful member of Colerain Baptist Church and its Women’s Missionary Union.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, William Rhodes White, on September 28th of this year.

Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Kaylor and husband Robert of Colerain, Theresa Gerba and husband Paul of Bedford, TX, and Donna White and husband Patrick Wratchford of Raleigh; a brother, Ellis Mizelle of Hopewell, VA; four grandsons, Robert Kaylor, Jr. and wife Allison, James Kaylor and wife Allyson, William Harris, Jr. and wife Rachelle, and Joseph Gerba; nine great-grandchildren, Kade, Zeb, Bex, and Willa Kaylor, Colton and Davis Kaylor, and Kayla, Alyssa, and Megan Harris; and a niece that was especially close to her and her family, Nonie Mizelle.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held Sunday, December 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Colerain Baptist Church by the Rev. Gary D. Saffell.  A private interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a reception in the social hall immediately following the service, or at the White residence on Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
