ELIZABETH CITY – Ellen Holmes Russell, 62, of Scotland Drive, Elizabeth City, died Friday, December 19, 2014 as a result of an automobile accident on Friday, December 19, 2014.  She was a retired public school teacher with over 37 years of service, including 30 years at Buckland Elementary School in Gates County. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, is handling the arrangements.
