Clara P. Tinkham

MURFREESBORO – Clara Mae Tinkham, age 92, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Creekside Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Tom Browne Road, Murfreesboro. She was an active member of Mt.Tabor Baptist Church and especially enjoyed the Woman’s Missionary Union and the celebration of Foreign Missions.
Clara was born on May 7, 1922 in Hertford County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Jerome Tinkham; and her son, Dwight Jerome Tinkham; and three brothers, Eley, Coburn, and Hubert.
Mrs. Tinkham is survived by her son, Gilbert Tinkham of Murfreesboro; her daughter, Amy Tinkham Guttu of Myrtle Beach, SC and husband William Guttu; and her daughter-in-law, Brenda Tinkham; and also her sister, Ellen Parker Vann of Chesapeake, VA. She was affectionately called “Mimi” by her grandchildren, April Mae Tinkham Vaughan and husband David of Murfreesboro, Joshua Maness and wife Rachel of Cincinnati, OH, Meghan Maness of Myrtle Beach, SC, Courtney Tinkham of Raleigh, NC and Sarah Tinkham Hilton and husband Donnie of Fayetteville, NC; and two great grandchildren, Devin Christopher Vaughan and Wesley Hilton.
The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Murfreesboro. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, June 30 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Home, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie. A private burial will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will greet friends and loved ones after the funeral services at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
