AHOSKIE – Florence Overton peacefully passed away June 15, 2014, surrounded by loving family.

Mrs. Overton was born in Bertie County to Mayburn Hill White and Lethia Holloman White. She graduated from Mars Hill High School and took a Business Course from Chowan University. Florence was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church until she married the love of her life, T. S. Overton, Jr. on April 13, 1947. She then joined First Baptist Church of Ahoskie where she was a faithful member, Sunday School teacher, WMU member and later in life a member of the Fidelis Sunday School class.

Mrs. Overton is survived by son, Larry Shields Overton and wife, Elizabeth Pittman Overton, of Winston-Salem, NC and their two children Rachel Wynne Overton, William Shields Tyndall Overton and wife Maria; son, Kenneth Ronald Overton and wife, Jo Ann Hill Overton of Albemarle, NC and their two sons, Kenneth Wesley Overton and Matthew Hill Overton; daughter, Sherry Overton Graham and husband, Robert O. Graham of Rogers, AR, and their four daughters, Emily Graham Kincey and husband, Eric, Megan Graham Smiley and husband, Kyle, Katherine Lynn Graham, and Lauren Amanda Graham; and daughter, Deborah Overton Magette and husband, Raymond Williams Magette, Jr., of Ahoskie, NC and their children, Colburn Thad Magette, Sarah Grace Magette Britton and husband, Alex, and Garrett Lee Magette. Mrs. Overton had three great-grandchildren, Jonah Patrick Kincey, Addison Marie Kincey, and Elijah Weston Kincey. She also leaves behind one sister, Grace White Layton and husband J. T. of Jacksonville, NC. She was pre-deceased by two brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Ahoskie Thursday, June 19th at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the home of Bill and Debbie Magette.
