WINTON – Earl Lee Perry, Jr., 80, of 128 Sandy Drive, Winton, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mr. Perry was born in Currituck County on July 20, 1933 and was the son of the late Earl Lee, Sr. and Helen Peffer Perry. A retired supervisor with Conrail where he worked for 30 years, he was a former member of the Ahoskie Chapter of Gideon’s International, and since retiring had served as supply pastor for several area churches. Currently he was the pastor of Union United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Denhart; and by his brother, Phillip Perry.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Shirley Cantrall Perry; five sons, David Perry and wife Glynis and Michael Perry and wife Darla, all of Granite Falls, Bill Perry and wife Lori of Morganton, Timothy Perry and wife Jennifer of Gates, and Donald Lee Bennett of Winton; two sisters, Faye Ferrell of Leesville, SC and Anne Russell of Edenton; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Union United Methodist Church by District Superintendent, The Rev. Gil Wise. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, is assisting the family with arrangements.
