June Faye James, daughter of Hazel O. and the late Floyd H. James, was born January 6, 1947 in Bertie County, Windsor, North Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2014 at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.
She joined Sandy Point Missionary Baptist Church in Windsor, North Carolina at an early age. She graduated from R. L. Vann High School, Ahoskie, North Carolina in 1965. She earned a B.A. degree in English from Elizabeth State University, Elizabeth City, North Carolina and a M.A. degree from Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland. She retired as an English teacher from the Baltimore Public Schools System. Her greatest love was spending time with her students.
June was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene.
Leaving to cherish her memories are five brothers, Clifton D. James (Lizzie) of Silver Spring, Maryland, Carl L. James (Nina) of Hampton, Virginia, Floyd J. James of Jamestown, North Carolina, Reginold A. James (Vanessa) of Aldie, Virginia, and Jeffrey E. James (Lesa) of San Jose, California; and four sisters, Christine C. Phillips (Joseph) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maxine Y. Harvey (Delwyn) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Cynthia E. James of South Riding, Virginia, and Rhonda L. Lee (Darnell) of Windsor, North Carolina. She also leaves aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and three special friends, Anita O’Neal, Callamay Stream, and Jamie Dorsey, all of Baltimore, Maryland.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Sandy Point Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor, NC. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Sessoms will be officiating.
Services are entrusted to Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, North Carolina.
