COLERAIN – Edith Baker Bryant, 90, of 2618 Wakelon Road, Colerain, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Three Rivers Nursing Home.
She was born in Bertie County on December 8, 1923 to the late Elmer and Allie Nicholson Baker, and was predeceased by her husband, A. D. Bryant; sister, Elmer Gray Evers; and brothers, Marvin and E. J. Baker.
Edith was a member of Elm Grove Baptist and a homemaker. She retired from Bertie Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday May 7, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery by the Rev. Tommy Tripp and the Rev. Mike Willard.
Survivors include daughters, Jane B. Davidson and husband, Howard, and Joy B. Mizelle and husband, McCoy, all from Colerain; sisters, Hilda Hoggard and Inez Robertson, both of Colerain; brother, Johnny Guy Baker of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pierce and Allie Vara, both of Colerain, and Tracy Mooring of Rocky Mount; and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from the home of Jane and Howard Davidson, 515 Morris Ford Road, Colerain. Memorial gifts may be made to Duke Children’s Hospital, 710 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701.
