EURE – Augustine Hale Rountree, 88, formerly of Harrell Lane, Eure, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Rountree was born in Hertford County on September 3, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Charlie Madison and Marie Howard Hale.

A homemaker, she had in earlier years worked as a clerk in the Ahoskie Dollar Store.  Raised in the fellowship of Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander, she later became a member of Eure Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest H. Rountree, Sr.; and by her sisters, Vivian Davenport and Hilda Skinner.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Kenny, Jerry, Charles, Connie, Tammy, Bonnie, and Michael; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Michael Brinkley.  A private burial will follow in the church cemetery, with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements.

Friends may join the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following services on Friday.
