AHOSKIE – James “Jay” Howard Hall III, 53, of Ahoskie passed away peacefully on April 9, 2014 at his residence.
Jay was born in Ahoskie on November 9, 1960 to James “Howard” Hall Jr. and the late Jean Rogerson Hall. He worked for Ahoskie Food Center for a number of years as long as his health permitted. Jay was a loving husband, son, uncle and brother. He had a deep passion for his records, dvd’s and comic books. Jay was a member of Ahoskie Freewill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent as long as his health allowed him to. Jay wishes for this to be a festive occasion for his family and friends; he is in a better place where there is no cancer or hate.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Rogerson Hall.
Left to cherish Jays memory is his loving wife, Tammy, of the home; two brothers, Charles Preston Hall of Bristol, TN, and P.J. Rogerson of Talladaga, AL; a special sister, Amy Rogerson of Piedmont, AL; six nieces, Angelica, Olivia, Lysa, Daniela, and Makayla Castro, and Kaitlyn Frost; two nephews, Hunter and Dylan Rogerson; one great-niece, Ryleigh Walker; and a special friend, Gracie Lassiter.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 2:00 pm at the Ahoskie Freewill Baptist Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Dr. Jeff Cockrell, the Rev Joe Lassiter, and the Rev. Phil Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hertford-Gates County Relay for Life, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834; Ahoskie Freewill Baptist Church, 500 Kiwanis Avenue, Ahoskie, NC 27910; or Open Arms Church, 1418 NC 461, Ahoskie, NC 27910.
