Felix W. Rawls

AHOSKIE – Felix Wayne Rawls, age 85, passed away on April 3, 2014 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.
Mr. Rawls was born on November 1, 1928, a son of the late Hercy and Dessie Blowe Rawls in Hertford County, NC. He attended school in Aulander, both elementary and high school, and after his school days worked for the Newport News Ship Building Co. Felix worked for the FBI and during this employment he was privileged to work on the Enterprise, the John F. Kennedy, and the U.S. America, going on the sea trial of the John F. Kennedy and the U.S. America, truly an honor to him. He retired after twenty years of service that was very important to him and his country. After retirement from the FBI, he worked and retired as a shipping clerk for West Point Pepperell. Felix was a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie and as long as his health permitted, was very active in Sunday School.
Along with his parents, Mr. Rawls was preceded in death by his brother, Chester G. Rawls; and his sister, Carrie Rawls Morris.
Left to cherish his memory are his two brothers, John T. Rawls of Ahoskie, and Jesse Raymond Rawls of Yorktown, VA; a niece, Arlene R. Raiford; two nephews, Keith and Richard Rawls; along with numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel of Garrett- Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to services. Interment will be in AhoskieCemetery.
