AULANDER – Leon Patterson Kirby, age 81, passed away April 2, 2014 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Leon was born May 16, 1933 in Wilson County, North Carolina. Leon retired from Carolina Telephone Company. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his son, Leon “Pat” Kirby II and wife, Kim; and two grandsons, Patrick S. Kirby and Dustin M. Kirby.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Oak Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Greg Hurdle and the Rev. Don Polvador.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, and other times at the home of Pat Kirby II.
