COLERAIN – Ercel Dunning Pierce, 93, of 1911 Wakelon Road, Colerain, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her home.  She was born in Bertie County to the late Grover and Cassie Morris Dunning and was raised by her step mother, Goldie Pierce.

She was predeceased by sisters, Nancy Acree and Rebecca DeCoste; and brothers Lawrence, Carl, Bill and James Dunning.

Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker and a member of Perrytown Assembly of God.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Perrytown Assembly of God by the Rev. David Baker. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain.

Survivors include her husband, Alonzo F. “Boney” Pierce of the home; son, Alonzo “Al” F. Pierce, Jr. and wife, Billie Martin Pierce, of Greensboro; brothers, Ronald Dunning of Aulander, and Richard Dunning of Idaho; and grandchildren, Alonzo “Lonny” F. Pierce, III of Raleigh, and Robbin Rebecca Pierce of London, England.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor and from the home at other times. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of choice.
