WINDSOR – Elaine White isn’t going anywhere.

White will remain in her post as Bertie County Schools Superintendent for the next two years.

In a unanimous vote, the Bertie County Board of Education renewed White’s contract as school superintendent at its monthly meeting Feb. 4.

White’s next term as school superintendent begins July 1, 2014 and ends June 30, 2016.

According to the contract, the school superintendent will be paid $125,000 during her first year of employment. The state will pay $107,388 of the salary, while the remaining $12,612 will come from local funds.

”The state portion of the superintendent’s salary shall increase each fiscal year by the percentage increase of the state adopted Central Office administrative pay increases,” states the contract. “At no time shall the superintendent’s salary be decreased during the term of this contract.”

White’s original contract paid her $120,000 a year.

She was originally hired as school superintendent on Nov. 9, 2012 after serving four months as interim school superintendent.

She served as interim school superintendent after her predecessor, Dr. Debbie Harris-Rollins, resigned.
