GROVELAND, FL – Jay Lee Shook, 86, of Groveland, FL passed away February 7, 2014 at South Lake Hospital in Claremont, FL. He was born March 14, 1927 to the late Nicholas Patton and Dora Denton Shook of Sylva, NC. He relocated to Florida from Durham, NC in 1979.

Mr. Shook is predeceased by his wife, Jean Shook; sisters, Desta Shook, Esta Jones, and Marie Moore; and a brother, Jesse Shook.

Surviving are his sons, James Nicholas (Elaine) of Windsor, NC, and Gary Lee Shook of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Nicole (Zane) Petty of Lexington, SC, Ryan (Katy) Shook of Edenton, NC, and Byron (Natalie) Shook and Jonathan (Angie) Shook, both of Jacksonville, FL; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Christine Turpin of Sylva, NC and Ilean McDonald of Dayton, OH; and brothers, Bill Shook of Sylva, NC and Bobby Shook of Fletcher, NC.

Crematory services were provided by Brewer and Sons Funeral Home of Claremont, FL.
