Doris E. Harrell

WINDSOR – Doris Ruth Evans Harrell 86, of 601 Pine Ridge Road, Windsor, died Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

She was born in Bertie County October 22, 1927 to the late Luther Washington and Janie Hughes Evans and was predeceased by her husband, Lindsey David Harrell; son, James “Jimmy” Russell Harrell; sister, Irene Quinn; and brother, Edward E. Evans.

Mrs. Harrell was a lifelong member of Ross Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School for many years without missing a Sunday. She was an avid gardener and loved to share her bounty with her family, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Ross Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff Russell and Pastor R.O. Denton, Jr. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include sons, David Carroll Harrell, Sr. of Colerain, Howard V. Harrell and wife, Cynthia, of Windsor, and Michael D. Harrell of Windsor; sister, Jane White of Windsor; brother, Charles W. Evans of Garner; daughter-in-law, Betty J. Harrell of Windsor; grandchildren  Russell Harrell (Kristy), Vann Harrell (Jarren), David Harrell (Chasity), David C. Harrell, Jr., and Carla Pesce (Dave);  great grandchildren, Christopher Harrell, Abigail Harrell, Blaine Williams, Joseph Harrell, Hayle Harrell, David Pesce, Sarah Harrell, Piper Harrell, and Caelyn Pesce; and other survivors to include several nieces and nephews and many special “phone buddies”.

The family will receive friends from the home of Betty J. Harrell, 109 Askewville-Phelps Street.
