Frances A. Bowles

ROANOKE, VA – Frances Anne Bowles of Roanoke, VA passed away on January 17, 2014 at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bowles was a talented fiber artist, as well as an avid genealogical researcher and writer, and a gifted pianist, who shared her talents at The Oaks at Richfield in Salem, VA where she lived out her last years.

She was preceded in death by her former husband Joel Hylton, of Laurel Fork, VA; her father, CD Bowles of Roanoke, VA; her mother, Grace Bowles of Martinsville, VA; her sisters, Zella Bowles of Martinsville, VA and Ernestine Call of Roanoke, VA.

She is survived by a sister, Connie Beeler of Virginia Beach, VA; three daughters, Ann Ramsey of Berea, KY and her husband, Bill Ramsey, Janet Tate of Laurel Fork, VA and her husband, Dr. Glen Tate, and Sandy Workman of Roanoke, VA and her husband, David Workman; as well as a son, Dr. Joel Hylton of London, England and his wife, Cindy Hylton. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, and many other Bowles relatives in Roanoke, Martinsville and the Virginia Beach areas.

Visitation will be held at Edgewood Christian Church, 1006 Peck Street, Roanoke, VA24017, on Monday, January 20 at 10:00 a.m. followed immediately at 11:00 a.m. by a memorial service.  A dinner for family and friends will be held afterwards at the church at 12:30 p.m. The interment will occur at a later date.
