AHOSKIE – Betty Jean Miller Holloman, age 85, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ahoskie.

Mrs. Holloman was born in Bertie County on September 5, 1928, a daughter of the late Edna Daniels and DeWhitt Miller.  She was a seamstress, having worked at several manufacturing companies before her retirement.  Betty was a simple woman who loved spending time at the river with family, especially her sisters and grandchildren, and the family pets.  She enjoyed traveling with her sisters, working in her yard, and being an avid reader would often read as many as three books a week.  She loved her church, Earlys Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Beth Riddick of Windsor, and Becky Perry and husband, Larry, of Ahoskie, NC; her sister, Bobbie Cobb and husband, Rendol, of Windsor; and grandchildren, Jamie Perry Harper and husband, Robbie of Greenville, Julie Perry of Ahoskie, and Michelle Burgess and husband, Alan of Conway. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Haley Burgess, Holden Burgess, Hunter Perry, Avery Harper and Rylan Harper.

A celebration of life service was conducted on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Earlys Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald McSwain officiating.  Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain, NC.  The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Becky and Larry Perry.
