NAGS HEAD – Thomas Eley Willoughby, Jr., age 93 of Nags Head, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC.

Mr. Willoughby was born on February 18, 1920 to the late Mary Todd Willoughby and Thomas Eley Willoughby, Sr., the youngest of ten children in Ahoskie, NC.  He graduated from Ahoskie High School and furthered his education in business in Norfolk, VA.

He was co-owner and operator of The Dare Shops in Nags Head, NC along with his friend and business partner, Paul Darden Abbott.  Mr. Willoughby served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Willoughby was survived by two nephews and five nieces.

A celebration of life was conducted at Twiford Colony Chapel on Sunday, December 21, 20 with the Rev. Ken Simpson officiating. Burial was in Manteo Cemetery.
