MURFREESBORO – Bernice Nipper Burke, 77, died October 22, 2013 at her home in Murfreesboro after a lengthy illness. She had lived in Hertford County for the last 15 years and was a member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Ulmer Nipper and Bernice Warren Kennedy, Mrs. Burke is survived by her husband of 61 years, Henry W. Burke; children, Ava Burke and husband, Cecil, of Severn, Jeff Burke and wife, Susan, of Ahoskie, Mike Burke and wife, Wanda, of Lewiston, and Stacy Burke of Danville, Virginia; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

A visitation with the family of Mrs. Burke will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. and her funeral service will be Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Murfreesboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Monica D. Yungeberg presiding.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
