Mary R. Davis

SEVERN – Mary Ricks Davis, 94, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

A native of Northampton County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Ricks and Betty Futrell Ricks and had been preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Heath Williams and Malcolm Davis; one son, Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Williams; sisters, Cleo R. Overby, Betty R. Porter, and Ethelyn R. Willoughby; and brother, Grady V. Ricks.

Mrs. Ricks retired from Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, VA after 27 years of employment and loved to travel, cook, garden, and raise flowers to be shared with others. She was a lifetime member of Conway United Methodist Church and her faith was very important to her. She was a charter and lifetime member of the World War II Memorial Society and a member of the XYZ Club. She treasured her family, staying faithful to them and as they grew and began families of their own she lovingly enjoyed her role as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Her survivors include daughter, Garnet Williams Phillips and husband, Dan, of Murfreesboro; son, Harold Williams and wife, Julia, of Boykins, VA; daughter-in-law, Paige Williams; six grandchildren, Mary Margaret Phillips, Rebecca Phillips, Christina Williams, Thomas Heath Williams and wife, Deana, Jason Williams and Dennis Hoel and wife, Irene; four great grandchildren, Heath and Elizabeth Williams and Fabian and Jasmine Hoel; one sister, Meredith R. Flythe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and her Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Town of Conway Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Hill presiding.
