NEWSOMS, VA – Gladys Futrell Edwards, 95, a former resident of Branchville, VA and widow of Benjamin Clarence “Buddy” Edwards, passed away May 8, 2013.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Northampton County, NC, the last of eight children of the late Wesley and Nettie Futrell.  She was a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carole Elaine Harris (Arthur) of Rocky Mount, NC and Deborah Diane Edwards (Cynthia) of Wilmington, NC; two sons, Gene Edwards (Tobey) of Sedley, VA and the Rev. Darwin G. Edwards (Wanda) of Newsoms, VA; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Edwards was predeceased by her siblings, Willie, Ray, Wilmer, Fred, and Harold Futrell, Ethel Howell and Joyce F. Daniel.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA where the service will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating.  The interment will follow at BeechwoodCemetery, Boykins, VA.
