ELIZABETH CITY – Bertie High School’s baseball team rallied from a 4-1 deficit here Tuesday night and went on to down Northeastern 9-5 in a Northeastern Coastal Conference game.

Northeastern scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added two more in the second as the Eagles led it 4-1 after two complete.
Bertie would re-seize the lead in the top of the fourth. Christian Bland, Archie Wesson, and Weaver all walked to load the bases. Javier Pagola then coaxed a fourth straight base-on-balls for an RBI. The Falcons added two more runs in the top of the sixth when Pagola walked and Cowand singled and both players pulled off a double-steal. Alex Harmon then had a two-run double scoring the pair and Bertie would lead it 7-4 after six innings.
Bertie got its final two runs in the top of the seventh when Wesson was hit by a pitch and scored on Weaver’s RBI double. Weaver then scored on a Pagola RBI single. The Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Bertie extinguished the comeback for a four-run win.
