RICH SQUARE – Sallie Harmon McDaniel, age 73, died at the Vidant Medica lCenter in Greenville on Thursday, April 11, 2013.
She was a native of Hertford County, born to Ida Lee Jones Harmon and Jesse Ward Harmon. Mrs. McDaniel was married to Robert K. McDaniel on April 9, 1982. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Woodland. Mrs. McDaniel had a great passion for cooking, reading and working crossword puzzles. She loved music and dancing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. McDaniel especially treasured the time she spent with her grandson, Barrett.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father; two sisters, Patricia Byrum and Nancy Carolyn Harmon; and two brothers, Charlie and Thomas Harmon.
Survivors include her husband, Robert K. McDaniel; one daughter, Christie M. Morris and her husband, Johnathan, all of Rich Square; two step daughters, Peggy Bolton and her husband, Butch, of Gastonia, and Mary Ann Chang and her husband, Henry, of Los Vegas, NV; three stepsons, Keith McDaniel of Spartanburg, SC, Tommy McDaniel and his wife, Chri,s of Hertford, and Charlie McDaniel of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Judith A. Evans of Millennium, Jessie Leigh Hodges of Murfreesboro, and Hazel Parker and her husband, Hubert, of Kelford; one grandson, Barrett Morris, and nine step grandchildren, Chucky, Trisha and Bubbie Swain, Chivon Flynn, Amanda McDaniel, Tiffany Fifite, Crystal McDaniel, Sara Decker and Christopher McDaniel. Also surviving are several great step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square. Officiating will be Pastor Ray Faircloth and Pastor Charles Lockwood.
The family will receive friends at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Rich Square on Saturday evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
