Willie Wiggins Chamblee, Sr., age 81, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

Mr. Chamblee was born in Hertford County on December 27, 1931, a son of the late Joseph James and Maggie Wiggins Chamblee.  He was a member of Hickory Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church and the Davie Masonic Lodge #39 AF & AM.  Willie was retired as a dispatcher and office manager for Eastern Fuels of Ahoskie.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jane Moseley Chamblee; his daughter, Wanda Chamblee Ward and husband, Thomas, of Ahoskie; and his son, Willie Wiggins “Wig” Chamblee, Jr. and wife, Connie, of Aulander. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin Parker Chamblee and Carolyn Jane Ward; and a great granddaughter, Braelyn Grace Chamblee.

A private graveside service will be held at HighlandMemorialGardens.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, and other times at the home of his daughter, Wanda and Thomas Ward, 302 NC 561 East, Ahoskie, NC.
